The harvest is upon Houston! Here is a look at four upcoming festivals that celebrate the deliciously unique cuisines throughout our area.
On Saturday, November 10th check out the Texas Taco Music Festival at Midtown Park. This is an all day event beginning at 12 pm and ending at 9 pm. The Coalition of Hispanics for Excellence In Technology & Art (CHEITA) aims to celebrate Hispanic heritage and culture in the Houston area through special events like these. There will be a variety of craft beers, live music, food, and treats. Purchase your tickets online in advance for a discounted price and skip the line on festival day!
Also taking place on November 10th is Wing-A-Rama Houston. From 1 pm to 5 pm, come out to POST Houston on Franklin Street to test some of Houston’s best wings as contestants compete for the Best Chicken Wing. There will also be a hot wing eating competition for those looking for a challenge. Purchase your tickets online. Prices vary.
The next day on November 11th is the Houston vs. Austin BBQ Throwdown. St. Arnold’s Brewing Company in conjunction with The Houston Barbecue Festival will be hosting a competition to see who has the best BBQ — Houston vs. Austin. The event will begin at 1 pm. Tickets have yet to be announced, so keep up to date with St. Arnold’s event calendar for more information.
Finally, the following weekend will be Houston’s 26th Annual Turkish Festival. On November 17th and 18th, come out and try a variety of Turkish dishes at Jones Plaza including tantuni rice and beans, chicken and beef doner, kebabs, sujuc, falafel, and much more. Enjoy a variety of cultural activities and performances like calligraphy and shop for Turkish-inspired gifts and crafts at the bazaar. The event will begin at 11 am and last all day until 9 pm.
